Food safety raids in Visakhapatnam seal kitchens, destroy 90 kg of chicken

Food safety officials carried out a late-night inspection drive across Visakhapatnam on Thursday, targeting hotels and restaurants for food quality, storage practices and kitchen hygiene. The operation was led by P. Arun Babu, Director of Drugs and Food Safety, who personally inspected several establishments, and continued until late in the night.

At Kamath Hotel on Beach Road, about 60 kg of chicken stored in violation of the rules was destroyed. Officials issued an improvement notice over unhygienic conditions in the kitchen, sealed the kitchen and registered a case.

At Pista House on Beach Road, around 30 kg of chicken was destroyed. An improvement notice was issued and a case was registered for non-compliance with the rules.

At Alpha Hotel in Jagadamba Centre, the kitchen was found to be unhygienic. A notice was issued and the kitchen was sealed.

At Fusion Foods in Siripuram, officials found unhygienic conditions in the kitchen, issued a notice and sealed it.

At Eastern Spice Restaurant in Akkayyapalem, an improvement notice was issued and a case was registered for failure to maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen.

The inspection team included B. Srinivas, Joint Food Controller; Kalyan Chakravarthi and Venugopal Rao, Assistant Food Controllers; and Food Safety Officers Ravikumar, Apparao, Ravindra Reddy, Srinu and Ananda Rao.
