VP Radhakrishnan Hails Yoga College's 75-Year Legacy at Kaivalyadhama

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the platinum jubilee of Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama, Lonavala, and launched a new book on yoga.

Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala, Maharashtra, marking 75 years of the institution's work in yoga education, research and cultural synthesis.

In his address, the Vice-President noted that the occasion carried added significance because Kaivalyadhama itself has completed a century of service to yoga. He recalled the contribution of Swami Kuvalayananda, who founded the institution in 1924, describing him as a pioneer of the scientific study of yoga at a time when the practice was largely regarded as mystical. The legacies of the past, he said, must be preserved and carried forward, adding that "yoga is not for one generation; it is for every generation to come."

Shri Radhakrishnan spoke of yoga's growing acceptance worldwide and recalled Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's sustained efforts to take its message to the international stage. Yoga, he observed, is now practised across nations, cultures and communities.

Turning to the pace of modern life, the Vice-President said technological progress and digital connectivity have made daily existence increasingly fast-paced, and that yoga offers an opportunity to pause, concentrate, reflect and reconnect with oneself. It helps bridge the gap between mind and body and promotes physical and mental well-being, he said.

Addressing young students, he said India's youth possess immense energy, talent and ambition, which reach their fullest potential when combined with discipline and awareness. Referring to Patanjali's concept of chitta vritti nirodhah, he said the ability to calm and focus the mind is especially relevant in an age of constant notifications and information overload.

The Vice-President said that any endeavour undertaken with good intention and a sincere commitment to society's well-being can leave a lasting legacy, and that good legacies never die but continue to inspire generations. The century-long journey of Kaivalyadhama, he said, is a living testament to this truth.

He congratulated the trustees, principal, faculty, students and alumni of the College, and paid tribute to the vision of Swami Kuvalayananda and the contribution of Seth Makhanlal Seksaria.

On the occasion, the Vice-President launched "Yoga Explained – Learn From the Master" by Shri O. P. Tiwari. He also visited the campus and interacted with students, encouraging them to cultivate discipline, concentration and self-awareness through yoga.

Governor of Maharashtra Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, former Union Minister and Chairman of Kaivalyadhama Global Shri Suresh Prabhu, CEO of Kaivalyadhama Global Shri Subodh Tiwari, Chief Patron Shri Rakesh Seksaria, faculty members, students, alumni and other dignitaries were present.
