Ibrahimpatnam police have identified the woman whose dismembered body was found in the VTPS cooling canal on September 18 as Kalyani, a native of Mangalagiri.
The Ibrahimpatnam police have identified the woman whose dismembered body was recovered from the cooling canal of the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) earlier this month.
The victim has been named as Kalyani, a native of Mangalagiri in Guntur district. According to the police, she was an orphan and had been living separately from her husband after disputes within the family. Her brother was residing in Vijayawada.
The body, cut into pieces, was found in the VTPS cooling canal on September 18. With no immediate leads to her identity, investigators turned to a distinctive tattoo on her hand. Photographs of the woman and the tattoo were circulated on social media groups in an attempt to establish who she was.
West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police N.S.V.K. Durga Rao confirmed the identification. "We have identified the deceased as Kalyani. The police are trying to trace the accused who murdered the woman," he said.
A few suspects have reportedly been taken into custody for questioning as part of the investigation. The police are continuing their efforts to trace those responsible for the killing.
