West Bank Mosque Vandalised in Overnight Attack, Resident Says

A mosque in the West Bank village of Bazariya has been left with charred walls, broken glass, and burned debris following an overnight incident that a local resident attributes to settlers.

Graffiti spray-painted in Hebrew on a wall appeared to reference U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee, with a message reading, "Huckabee, regards from the terrorists." Other markings included phrases about evictions and a warning directed at an Israeli journalist.

Majed Nasr, a resident who lives next to the mosque, said he was alerted to the incident around 2:45 am by a small explosion. He told reporters he saw settlers at the site before they fled through nearby olive groves.

Nasr said residents managed to bring the fire under control with minimal losses. He expressed surprise that the attack occurred in the center of the town, which he described as peaceful.

The Israeli army reportedly arrived at the scene in the morning. Nasr said when he asked a soldier about the incident, he was told to leave the area.
