White House TV pool resumes operations after judge lifts ban on three outlets

The White House television pool appeared to be back in operation on Friday, though the situation remains fluid, according to CNN media analyst Brian Stelter.

The development follows a judge's temporary ruling on Thursday that struck down a three-day ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico. The judge's decision did not directly address the video pool itself, which consists of five major U.S. broadcast outlets that rotate shooting and sharing footage.

In a show of solidarity, the other four pool members had declined to participate until CNN was reinstated.

Stelter posted on X that the major networks plan to resume TV pool coverage of President Donald Trump's events on Friday. He noted that CNN holds a pool assignment at the National Archives for an event with Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and that the White House had approved the network's credentials for that gathering.

A daily White House press schedule listed CBS as one of the pool assignments on Friday. CNN also had a pool assignment, and a journalist observed the network preparing on site.

CNN did not comment directly, referring instead to its editorial coverage.
