Woman killed in hit-and-run on Shamshabad airport road; taxi driver booked

A 33-year-old woman was killed on Saturday morning when an airport taxi rammed the motorcycle she was riding pillion on the Shamshabad Airport Approach Road. The driver allegedly sped away from the spot immediately after the collision.

The victim has been identified as Pullamoni Radhika, wife of Rajashekar, a housekeeper residing in Rallaguda, Shamshabad. The accident occurred around 6:43 a.m. near a U-turn on the approach road.

Radhika suffered severe injuries to her head and face. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

CCTV footage of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the car — an airport taxi bearing registration number TG 07 X 8636 — hitting the motorcycle (TS 07 HX 0918) from behind. The driver has been identified as Nalavalla Umakanth.

Records on the e-challan portal show the vehicle is registered under 'Carrum Mobility Solu' and operates as an airport taxi through Uber. The same vehicle has five traffic violations logged between July and September this year, including fines for wrong parking, obstruction of carriageway, and signal jumping in various parts of the city.

The RGIA police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident and the role of the driver.
