Xi Jinping Offers Condolences to Nepal After Deadly Mudslide

Chinese President Xi Jinping has conveyed his condolences to Nepali President Ram Chandra Poudel following a severe mudslide disaster that struck the region near the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing between the two countries. The disaster has resulted in heavy casualties, missing persons, and significant property losses.

In his message, Xi expressed deep sympathy on behalf of the Chinese government and people to the victims, the bereaved families, the injured, and all those affected by the calamity. He noted that China is making every effort to search for and rescue missing individuals, relocate and resettle affected residents, and provide prompt medical treatment to the injured. The priority, he stated, is to minimize casualties and prevent secondary disasters.

Xi emphasized the close ties between the two nations, remarking that China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers and share a common destiny. He affirmed China's readiness to actively assist Nepal in its rescue operations and to provide support and assistance to the best of its capability. He also expressed confidence that the peoples of both countries will work together to overcome the disaster and rebuild homes as soon as possible.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a message of condolences to Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
