Xi Jinping Lands in New Delhi for 18th BRICS Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to take part in the 18th BRICS Summit, travelling at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chinese leader's aircraft touched down at Palam Air Force Station, where he was received by senior Indian officials. A guard of honour was drawn up along a red carpet to greet him as he disembarked.

Xi was accompanied on the same flight by Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of its General Office, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau and the country's foreign minister, along with other members of his delegation.

After the airport welcome, Xi's motorcade made its way towards his hotel. Along the route, representatives of overseas Chinese communities and Chinese-funded enterprises in India gathered at the roadside, waving the national flags of both countries.

The visit places the Chinese president in New Delhi for the latest gathering of BRICS leaders, with the summit logo displayed at the venue.
