Yadgir DC orders FIRs against fake doctors, illegal clinics
Yadgir Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has directed health officials to file FIRs against fake doctors and unauthorised hospitals, and to tighten enforcement of KPME, PC-PNDT, MTP and tobacco control rules.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has directed health department officials in Yadgir district to register FIRs and pursue strict legal action against fake doctors operating unauthorised hospitals without the requisite qualifications.
Chairing a review meeting on the PC-PNDT Act, the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act and the COTPA tobacco control cell at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Mr. Pandve expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of follow-up action despite FIRs having been filed in the past. He called for seamless coordination with the Police Department and cautioned that the Health Department's performance would be watched closely from now on.
"All hospitals must strictly comply with mandatory registration under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act," he said.
On prenatal sex determination, the Deputy Commissioner said strict monitoring would be enforced to stop the illegal use of ultrasonography, and training workshops would be organised for gynaecologists and radiologists. Yadgir, Wadagera and Shorapur taluks will receive special attention in this effort.
Pharmacies are to be inspected to curb the sale of MTP pills without valid medical prescriptions, he said. He also sought enforcement against unlicensed tobacco vendors and the immediate cancellation of licences for shops operating within a 100-metre radius of educational institutions.
Officials at the meeting reported that 1,241 schools and 68 colleges in the district have already been declared tobacco-free educational institutions.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dharanesh, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Mahesh Biradar, District Surveillance Officer M.S. Patil and District Family Welfare Officer Jyothi Kattimani attended the review.
