Yami Gautam wins first National Film Award for 'Article 370'

Actor Yami Gautam has been conferred the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the political thriller 'Article 370', marking the first such honour of her career.

Gautam accepted the award from President Droupadi Murmu at the ceremony held in Kevadia, Gujarat. She approached the stage smiling and greeted the gathering with a traditional namaste. Her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, watched from the audience as she received the recognition.

For the occasion, she wore a black saree with a golden border, paired with jhumkas and minimal jewellery, and styled her hair in a neat bun adorned with white flowers.

After the awards were announced, Gautam shared her reaction in a post on X, describing the honour as a moment she would cherish for life. She said it recognised years of dedication to her craft and called it the outcome of a journey defined by hope, perseverance and resilience.

She noted that she has spent fourteen years in the film industry trying to work with honesty and let her performances speak for themselves.

Gautam also said 'Article 370' was far more than an ordinary project for her, describing it as a story she deeply believed in. She added that the recognition felt especially emotional because the film was produced under her home banner, and that every challenge and conversation during its making was driven by a shared aim to tell the story with honesty and conviction.

Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, 'Article 370' also features Priyamani, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar in key roles.
