In his response to the chargesheet, Malik argued that the case was constructed decades after the alleged incident, solely with the intent to implicate him. He described the accusations as reading more like a fictional story than evidence-based legal proceedings.
In a dramatic turn, Malik also stated that he is willing to divorce his Pakistani wife, a move that appears aimed at countering any allegations of foreign links. Additionally, he has sought the death penalty, a plea that underscores his defiance and insistence on innocence.
The case against Malik is part of a broader investigation into crimes against Kashmiri Pandits during the insurgency in the 1990s. Malik's legal team is expected to challenge the charges in court, maintaining that the prosecution lacks credible evidence.
