YouTube rolls out AI editing tools, shopping push at Made on YouTube event
YouTube unveiled AI-powered creator tools, shopping expansions and customised viewer feeds at its Made on YouTube event in New York City.
YouTube introduced a set of artificial intelligence tools, shopping updates and personalised viewing features at its annual Made on YouTube event, held in New York City.
On the creator side, the platform is adding capabilities to YouTube Studio that give feedback on video drafts, generate thumbnails matched to a channel's style, and allow testing of up to three different video cuts. A Gemini-powered assistant in Shorts and YouTube Create will help creators edit clips, remove pauses and align music.
The company is also testing opt-in AI comment moderation that adjusts to a creator's preferences, and said its likeness-protection tools will combine voice and facial detection.
In commerce, YouTube plans to extend its Shopping affiliate programme to 35 countries by the end of the year. More than 1.3 million creators are already enrolled. Creators in India and Brazil will soon be able to tag Amazon products, while product tags will display offers localised to viewers in different markets.
For viewers in the United States, the platform will roll out Custom Feeds across web, mobile and TV, letting users save homepage tabs built around interests such as documentaries or DIY videos. Its Ask YouTube feature will gain shopping queries and follow-up questions, including product-comparison tables, along with voice commands for TV users.
