YSRCP leader and Vizianagaram ZP chairperson Majji Srinivasa Rao joins TDP, citing CM Naidu's focus on North Andhra.
In a significant political development ahead of the local body elections, YSRCP leader and Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad chairperson Majji Srinivasa Rao formally joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday.
Rao attributed his decision to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision and the ruling party's targeted developmental focus on the North Andhra region. He had submitted his resignation from the posts of YSRCP Vizianagaram District president and Bhimili in-charge on Tuesday.
Addressing the media in Vizianagaram, Rao clarified that his move was not driven by any differences with his uncle, senior YSRCP leader Botcha Satyanarayana. He stated that he joined the TDP without any conditions and expressed hope that his entry would bolster the party in a district where the NDA swept all Assembly seats in the 2024 elections.
Responding to queries about Rao's exit, Satyanarayana remarked that individual political ambitions often guide such decisions, suggesting this could be the reason behind his nephew's departure from the party.
