YSRCP accuses Revenue Minister of intimidating employee union leaders

The YSR Congress Party's Employees and Pensioners Wing has accused Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad of threatening employee union leaders who are pressing for their legitimate demands. State wing president Nalamaaru Chandrasekhar Reddy made the allegation on Tuesday at the party's central office in Vijayawada.

Reddy, who claimed 40 years of government service, said he had never witnessed a Chief Minister or Minister treat employees in such a manner. He emphasised that government staff are not slaves but the backbone of administration, playing a vital role in implementing welfare schemes.

The YSRCP leader alleged that the coalition government has failed to fulfil any promises made to employees and pensioners during its 27-month tenure. He demanded immediate clearance of nearly ₹40,000 crore in pending dues, including General Provident Fund (GPF), Andhra Pradesh Group Life Insurance (APGLI), retirement benefits, Pay Revision Commission (PRC) arrears, and dearness allowance (DA).

Reddy noted that 40 days have passed since the July 22 meeting with the Group of Ministers, yet no decision has been taken on the issues raised. He said the government has also not addressed concerns related to the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), Guaranteed Pension Scheme (GPS), 12th PRC, and Interim Relief, while five DAs remain pending.

He demanded restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), implementation of the 12th PRC, payment of at least 30% Interim Relief, clearance of pending dues, and restoration of the Employees Health Scheme.

Reddy warned that nearly 13 lakh employees and pensioners could take to the streets if the government fails to address their grievances.
