YSRCP Student Wing Seeks CBI Probe into Andhra Pradesh Constable Recruitment

The student wing of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has called for an independent inquiry, including by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), into the recruitment of police constables in Andhra Pradesh. The demand was made on Sunday at the party's central office, where state president Panuganti Chaitanya and working president A. Ravichandra addressed the media.

The leaders alleged that the selection process had raised doubts over its transparency and urged the government to place the complete recruitment data in the public domain.

A key point of contention was the addition of 79 backlog posts to the 6,100 constable vacancies that had been notified during the previous YSRCP government. The party leaders asked under what rules these additional posts were included and to which categories they were allotted. They pointed out that if 79 posts were added to 6,100, the total should be 6,179, and questioned the government's claim that 6,100 posts had been filled.

The YSRCP student wing also raised objections to the increase in the sports quota from 2% to 3%, and the expansion of eligible sports from 20 to 67. They sought the disclosure of candidates' sports certificates, verification details, merit lists, and category-wise cut-offs.

According to the leaders, the selection list contained only candidates' names and registration numbers, unlike the detailed information they claimed was made public during the previous government's recruitment of Sub-Inspectors. They cited alleged differences in cut-offs between general and sports categories in Guntur Rural and Nellore.

Additionally, the party demanded clarity on the cancellation of the police passing-out parade after training.
