Zelenskyy meets Finnish president, US senators in Kyiv

Zelenskyy hosted Finland's president and US senators in Kyiv, signing drone and robotics deals and discussing Russian attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks in Kyiv on Sunday with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and a delegation of business leaders, alongside a separate meeting with visiting US senators.

The discussions with the Finnish side focused on expanding defence-industrial cooperation. According to Zelenskyy, Finnish and Ukrainian companies signed agreements covering the development and production of drones in Finland for use by Ukraine and Europe, the advancement of maritime unmanned systems, and the establishment of a facility for ground-based robotic systems.

Speaking at the meeting, Zelenskyy noted that Finland had stood with Ukraine since the start of the war. He said the growth of Ukraine's military and defence sector had opened new avenues for collaboration and joint production. "We have not only deals, not only papers, we have real instruments, and we have already real results," he said.

Stubb echoed the sentiment, describing cooperation between the two countries as straightforward. He mentioned that a drone deal was being finalised and referenced the broad security agreement signed between the nations a couple of years ago. He also highlighted ongoing defence cooperation with Ukraine's military and the defence industry.

Later, Zelenskyy met with US Senators Richard Blumenthal and James Lankford. In a Telegram post, the Ukrainian leader said he briefed the senators on what he termed "Russian ballistic terror." The conversation also covered Ukraine-US cooperation, bilateral agreements, and potential joint projects.
