Zelenskyy urges unity and forgiveness at Kyiv prayer breakfast
At Ukraine's National Prayer Breakfast, President Zelenskyy called for national unity, forgiveness, and mutual support to secure a strong peace.
Political leaders, government officials, and religious figures gathered in Kyiv on Sunday for a national prayer breakfast, held to coincide with Ukraine's National Flag Day. The event brought together a cross-section of the country's leadership for a moment of collective reflection.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the gathering, appealing directly to Ukrainians for national unity and mutual support. He acknowledged the profound difficulties facing the nation, speaking of accumulated pain and fatigue, but insisted that the country has preserved its inner strength.
"It is not easy for Ukrainians today. It is difficult," the president said. "There is accumulated pain, there is accumulated fatigue, but at the same time we preserve the light within us."
Zelenskyy emphasized that the preservation of humanity and the ability to support one another are the keys to national unity. He also stressed the importance of forgiveness, describing it not as a sign of weakness but as an essential condition for the country's future.
"Only a Ukraine that is not divided will be able to gain its strong peace," he told the assembled audience. The president's remarks underscored a message of resilience and collective purpose as the nation continues to navigate a period of sustained hardship.
