Supreme Court Judge Criticizes Pressure on Judiciary from Social Media

Supreme Court Judge Joymalya Bagchi has described the spread of misinformation on social media as a serious threat to the independence of the judiciary. He stated that the outrage on digital platforms and media trials exert undue pressure on judges. Justice Bagchi also mentioned that while live-streaming increases transparency, the video clips of court proceedings are often taken out of context, leading to misconceptions.
